Soy light.

Make-up wearing plus the daily grime that accumulates on my face (perspiration; at-the-computer-hand-on-chin action; running; central heating; pollution; human interaction (!); mobile phone use etc) means that I need a cleanser that cuts through the lot, but doesn't strip my skin or leave it feeling tight or blotchy.  I discovered the wonders of Soy Fresh Cleanser by American brand Fresh packed with amino acid-rich soy proteins a couple of years ago and I instantly fell in love with it.  So much so that I buy 2 tubes at a time, just in case (I don't know what the 'just in case' actually is, but it makes me feel better, just in case).

The blurb makes a big statement: "An extra gentle gel-cleanser that promises to whisk away everyday impurities and make-up'', a tall order particularly when my make-up removal involves tackling the stubbornness of my almost impenetrable Smashbox Cosmetics jet black, pure pigment liner.

How I use it (morning and night)

1.  Squeeze a kidney bean size onto my palm and agitate it with a little warm water.

2.  Massage over my entire face and neck area.  Using my ring fingers to create circular movements over my eye-make up area - at this point I look like an extra from a horror film.

3.  Run a clean muslin or towelling face cloth under hot water (almost too hot to touch).

4.  Place the very hot cloth over my face area, patting and gently wiping my skin. Taking deep breaths and inhaling the calming scent.

5.  Re wash the cloth and repeat until my skin looks and feels clean.

5.  Pat dry with a clean towel.

I repeat again in the morning during my shower to wake me up and start the day with a fresh face.

It's quite pricey (£32 for 150 ml) but I justify this expense in the following way:

1.  I don't use an eye make-up remover.

2.  I don't use cotton wool make-up pads.

3.  The combination of cucumber, rosewater and borage seed oil bring me deep, deep joy.

4.  I'm 48 and don't need to come up with any further reasons.

Don't blame me if you get addicted to this stuff and indeed the entire product range, you have been warned.
